about winekappa

Hi, winekappa desu.

I came across the Japanese proverb ‘kappa no kawa nagare’ and researched the meaning to be loosely translated as ‘even the best swimmers sometimes drown’ or ‘even the best of us sometimes fail’. I thought this proverb about the Japanese mythical water imp – the kappa, could be twisted to ‘kappa no wine kawa nagare’, which I’ve translated to ‘even the winekappa may drown in a river of wine’, or, ‘even the best wine sommelier can sometimes be fooled by a less than perfect drop’.

Wine I believe is a personal experience that can be enjoyed by anyone. I’d like to think that whether it is an expensive red from the heart of Bordeaux or a mass produced Chilean, there is a time and a place for each and both can be enjoyed.

I’d like to create a space where the average user of wine can share thoughts, learn, taste, expand their knowledge of wine without any preconceived ideas that only wine-savvy drinkers can understand this nectar of the vine.

So, open the bottle, pour a glass and join me drowning in the ever flowing river of wine.
